Fundraising Stories

We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of our fundraisers. Whether they raise £5 or £5,000 – every penny helps us to provide our vital services.

Fancy dress for a year!

Last year Aaron Lawrence (AKA Spice) joked about liking fancy dress. That led to him deciding to dress up in fancy dress every day for a year to raise money for MindOut.

Aaron raised an incredible £18,000 for us which is an extraordinary achievement.

Love Music Hate Homophobia

On Saturday 18th March 2017 at the Soundhouse venue in Leicester something amazing happened –Love Music Hate Homophobia – a brilliant music event took place to raise funds for MindOut.

This was all down to the amazing efforts of The University of Leicester LGBT+ Association  – more specifically Amy Robinson who spent months organising and delivering a fab event.  It was a splendid cornucopia of student and other local talent featuring comedy sketches, clubby burlesque dance routines and rocking singer-songwriters. As well as showcasing the performers the committee organised raffle prizes and great food all of which were donated for free to raise funds for MindOut.

We chose MindOut because we wanted to raise awareness about LGBTQ mental health, people I know have really suffered and not got the help they needed

All of us at MindOut are so proud and grateful for everything the association has done on our behalf. A special thanks goes out to Becky Flanagan, Kai Williams and of course the incomparable compere Tony Magaia for all their hard work on the night.

They raised £1004.90!   Thank you so very much.

John’s Story

I wanted to raise money for MindOut because I’ve seen first hand the great work they do. When my partner was struggling MindOut quite literally saved his life. It was a dark time – and I wanted to be able to give something back.
