Please give a gift that counts this Christmas and donate to MindOut so that we can keep our vital services open over the Christmas Season.
Christmas can be the most painful time of the year for many people – especially when they don’t have money, family, or a partner around them. Many LGBTQ people are estranged from their families and at Christmas the pain of isolation and loneliness really hits hard leading to thoughts of suicide and much worse mental health than at other times of the year.
Sonia’s Story
Sonia has struggled with her mental health for many years and this Christmas will be a tough one for her because she lost her mum 3 years ago and her dad last year. “Christmas is a lonely time, I’ve had so many Christmas’ alone. My son often goes away and I tend to just sleep through Christmas day and New Year’s Eve. Through MindOut I’ve got brilliant support and now some counselling. I also volunteer as a trustee and peer mentor so I feel I really belong somewhere – this makes Christmas more bearable.
