LGBTQ+ Mental Health Hero of the Week: Dan Bisson

This week’s Queer Mental Health Hero is Dan Bisson, one of our sponsored Brighton Marathon runners who raised an awesome £1,296 for MindOut. Has Dan inspired you? Then sign up to run the Brighton Marathon 2019 for MindOut here.

We asked Dan why he chose to run for MindOut. He said, ‘I decided to raise money for MindOut as I really wanted to support an independent and local Brighton based charity. As a gay man, contributing to the LGBTQ community is something I am very passionate about. Raising money to help support those who suffer from anxiety and depression only fuelled my training and desire to finish the Brighton Marathon. My Nan also struggled with depression and for years now–I’ve wanted to do something that would also honour her. Depression, and anxiety particularly, affects us all.

The amazing donations and support from my family, work colleagues, boyfriend and friends of friends during my training really helped push me through the 26 miles. I’m still on a huge high from the day and I’m already thinking of signing up for the London Marathon in 2019.’
