Yasmin Kapadia has facilitated a number of peer support groups for MindOut including one for BAME service users. We are very happy that she will be facilitating our LGBTQ PoC peer support group starting in February.

She also runs a private practice as an Integrative Transpersonal counsellor and works as a mental health mentor at the University of Sussex. She has trained and worked in a variety of other mental health roles in the past 15 years, including mental health nursing, advocacy, support work, teaching and training. Yasmin is passionate about social and ecological justice and about bringing these perspectives into her work with individuals and groups.

Our LGBTQ PoC support group will run for 90 minutes on Wednesday afternoons from February for 18 weeks. This will be online via Zoom and each member will have the chance to check in at the start of each session. The group will then discuss any topics that arise in more depth. A group agreement will be made at the start and the group will work together to create a safe space in which to explore the particular issues that affect LGBTQ people of colour. Active sharing and passive listening/bearing witness to one another will both be welcomed.

If you would like more information or want to book an assessment with Yasmin, please get in touch at [email protected] or on 01273 234839.
