MindOut is excited to partner with the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) for 2023! Supporting the mental health of LGBTQ young people is essential and we are so pleased that allyship and inclusion are close to the heart of BRIT Founder and CEO, Phil Packer. It’s not just lip service either, he has joined both our EventBrite trainings: A-Z of LGBTQ Inclusion and Trans 101.

Phil Packer (Founder and Non-Paid CEO of the British Inspiration Trust) on our partnership and the BRIT Challenge:

“I’m thrilled that the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) and the MindOut LGBTQ Mental Health Service have continued to forge a special relationship and are one of our charity partners for 2023.

“Every UK university, college, specialist college and Students’ Union are invited to enter teams in the annual BRIT Challenge (23rd January to 23rd March 2023) to support and improve young adult, student and staff mental health, fitness and wellbeing. Every team taking part are invited to choose a second charity to raise funds for, alongside BRIT, and I hope universities and colleges throughout the UK will choose MindOut as their second charity and raise vital funds to enable them to continue their work to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people.

“Having attended both of MindOut’s courses; Trans 101 – Introduction to trans awareness and A-Z of LGBTQ Inclusion – Meeting the mental health needs of LGBTQ people, I am mindful of the deeply concerning and increasing number of people from within LGBTQ communities who are suffering with mental health and wellbeing challenges. The BRIT Challenge has been designed to be inclusive and enable students and staff of all abilities to take part in many different ways.

“I hope that LGBTQIA+ Officers in Students’ Unions across the UK will seize the opportunity to embrace the BRIT Challenge as a way to bring their student body and university together, improve mental health and wellbeing, destigmatise mental health and champion equality, diversity and inclusion; it is also a great feel-good fundraising opportunity to support both MindOut and BRIT.”
