World Suicide Prevention Day

At MindOut we offer a range of services that support LGBTQ people who experience suicidal thoughts and suicidal distress. Many people come to MindOut to talk one-to-one with another LGBTQ person for support, information or to discuss options that might help their situation. This may or may not include feeling suicidal.

Our services include Counselling, Peer Support Groups, Wellbeing Workshops, 50+ activities, Advocacy, Online instant chat support, Peer Mentoring and Telephone Befriending.

World Suicide Prevention Day Events

Community Roots support our Suicide Intervention work by funding our Online Service, Peer Mentoring and Telephone Befriending Service. All these services are free, and a vital part of our offering to LGBTQ support people with mental health challenges. Sometimes this may be their only support. LGBQT people using these services have reported a significant reduction in the frequency and intensity of suicidal feelings.

As part of World Suicide Prevention Day, we have scheduled two Online sessions:

  • Supporting Suicidal Friends – Tuesday 14th September 17.30-19.30
  • Support with Suicidal Distress –  Friday 17th September 16:00-17:30

These will be instant message support sessions run by our Online Service.

We are also running 2 ‘bite sized’ workshops on Suicide prevention during October.

  • How to Talk About Suicide – 14 October 13:00-14:00
  • Staying Safe – 28 October 13:00-14:00

To sign up for one of these workshops, please fill in our Workshop Assessment Form,  contact us at [email protected] or on 01273 238742.
