Our Chat Support Service is for people aged 18 and over

Chat to us or leave us a message through the chat box in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

The service is run by LGBTQ affirmative mental health trained volunteers.

Every Monday
3:00pm – 5:00pm (we aim to provide volunteers who are People of Colour)

Every Tuesday
3:00pm – 5:00pm (we aim to provide volunteers who are Trans/Non-binary)

Every Wednesday
3:00pm – 5:00pm (general LGBTQ support)

Outside of these times you can also contact our partner the Samaritans for online chat/helpline support

Call 999 for medical or other emergencies, or 111 for fast medical advice.

Mental Health Support

If you need support or help with your own or someone else's mental health, then there are a range of options. See below for further details.

If you are in a crisis, you can

  • go to your local A&E Department
  • call the Mental Health Rapid Response Service 0300 304 0078 (24-hr number)
  • call or text the Samaritans: call 116 123 (24 hours & free from both landlines and mobiles) or text 07725 909 090

You can ask both of these to refer you to mental health services, and ask them to tell you about any LGBTQ specific mental health support in your area.

Local Services

Mind in Brighton and Hove provide peer support, advocacy and wellbeing services.

Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust provide local NHS mental health services. This includes the Staying Well out-of-hours walk-in service providing help and support to people who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

Southdown Mental Health Recovery offer mental health and wellbeing services including The Recovery College, Preston Park Recovery Centre and employment support.

National Services

Mental Health Foundation UK’s leading mental health research, policy and service improvement charity.

Mind Mind provides information on a range of topics including types of mental distress, where to get help, drug and alternative treatments and advocacy. Mind Infoline: 0300 123 3393

NHS 111 Helpline: 111 Opening hours: 24hours. National nurse led helpline providing medical advice. The NHS Direct website has useful pages containing information about all aspects of health.

Rethink Practical advice & information about issues such as; therapy and medication, benefit, debt, money issues, rights under the Mental Health Act. Their advice and information helpline is normally open from 9.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Freephone 0808 8010525.

 

The Gender Trust is the largest registered charity helping trans people and all those affected by gender identity issues. They offer a listening ear, a caring support and an information centre for anyone with any question or problem concerning their gender identity.
